About our Club
The Rotary Club of Castle Donington was chartered in 1974 sponsored by our mother club, The Rotary Club of Melbourne (Derbyshire).
The club originally met at the Donington Manor Hotel with 29 members and the first president was Donald Harper.
Since those early days the club has matured into one of the most progressive and friendly clubs in the district, noted for our good humour and extensive programme of service and social events.As a club we meet once a week on a Thursday evening, enjoying a meal, a few drinks and lots of friendly banter. Formal business is kept to a minimum and consists of committee reports and discussions on current and future Rotary projects and social events. Speakers are frequent and welcome additions to our meetings
Our club currently consists of 26 members including the club officers, plus 3 honorary members. As with most service organisations we are constantly looking to expand and we are always ready to enlist interested men and women as new members. There is no age restriction to membership. Providing donations and support to many local and international groups: Volunteer Bureau, Scouts, Cubs, Brownies, Guides, Stroke Club, Age Concern, Youth sporting clubs, International Shelterbox Scheme...etc
